Hi Ashwin,
I am Rajesh. a.k.a thegame_rulez in thinkdigit forums.My problem is that i have 64 Kbps local cable guy’s net connection and naturally i am behind a NAT and cant forward my ports.
So can you pls recommand me a good client with which i can make the max out of my connection arnd 7-8 KB/s speeds atleast.I found azureus quite confusing and bitcomet,bit tornado doesn’t go above 2-3 KB/s .any suggestions regarding clients and their setttings would be helpful.

i just downloaded µtorrent.its extremely light and good.can you pls help me out with the settings?i have limited the uploads to 6 KB/s but what should be the Global Max. no of connections and what should be the max no. of connected peers per torrent?

As for the best torrent client, I have been using BitTornado for more than 2 years and used that even in my Dial-UP days.. no issues for me.
I have not used µtorrent very extensively…it’s not my kinda program.
Anyways, why do have uploads to 6KB/s? If you get only 7-8KB/s, then don’t keep more than 4-4.5kB/s. Upload limit should not be set for more than 80% of your download limit.
I suggest that you cap your max global upload speeds in utorrent to around 4 KBps if your max upload speed is around 7-8kBps!
Make sure you do not set too many upload slots OR connections per torrent. Experiment with these values depending on your connection speed. This is the most COMMON reason for torrents going slow, setting those options too high WILL make things slow down significantly! More connections does not mean faster speeds.
Just Experiment with these values till you find the best settings. Anyways you have an unlimited connection, so Experimentation should not deter you!
Last but not the leas, there is no such thing as best torrent client. For each one, there is a favourite client. Experiment with many clients and see which one suits you, not because many dudes say utorrent or BitTornado is good.
